Nyaoga Unveils Sugar Mill Revival Plan
Candidate proposes verified audit of cane arrears, SonySugar recapitalisation, and a KES 500M stabilisation fund for Migori cane farmers.
Ochillo George Mbogo Ayacko today unveiled his plan to revive Migori's struggling sugar industry — including a verified audit of unpaid cane deliveries, the recapitalisation of SonySugar through a public-private partnership, and a KES 500M Migori Sugar Stabilisation Fund to cushion farmers during price shocks.
The plan also includes enforcement of prompt payment of farmers within 30 days of delivery and promotion of value addition — refined sugar, ethanol, and bagasse-based electricity.
'Every cane farmer in Migori will be paid what they are owed,' Nyaoga pledged. 'And every farmer will be paid on time, going forward. No more excuses.'
